December Update.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

Happy New Year! As we look back at 2017, there have been many highs and lows. In Spanish, we would say there were "muchos altos y bajos." Through the ebb and flow of life, we are constantly reminded that our stability must be in the Lord. The verses above have been a challenge and encouragement to our hearts. Our prayer for 2018 is that the Lord would help us to remain rooted and grounded in Him. Even in times of fear, uncertainty and need, Lord-willing we will not cease to bear fruit!

December was a very full month for the Mayfields! The Christmas season always brings a flurry of activities and excitement. We were thankful to have taken part in many of the activities at our church. Lisa recently resigned from her position at BB&T Bank, and Jeffrey has transitioned out of his position as Youth Pastor at our church. The Lord allowed us to spend Christmas and New Years with Lisa’s parents. This was an encouraging and refreshing time for us.

The month of January is full in a different way. Jeffrey’s ordination is scheduled for January 26th-28th. Please be in prayer for him as he studies. He is working hard in preparation for this, and he will be meeting regularly with our pastor to review the ordination material. We are so thankful for our sending church and their willingness to equip Jeffrey in this way! While Jeff prepares for ordination, Lisa will be packing and going through our things as we prepare for full-time deputation. We will be terminating our apartment lease at the end of January.

Full-time deputation begins in February. We have meetings in Pennsylvania for most of the month, and then we will be in Illinois for the month of March. Please pray for us as we continue to schedule meetings for 2018. The Lord has provided a unique opportunity for us this summer. Jeffrey will be a missionary speaker at a camp in Minnesota for two weeks. We are excited to be part of this ministry, and it will allow us to connect with other pastors in the surrounding areas.

Thank you so much for your part in our ministry. We could not do what we are doing without the prayers and support of God’s people. We praise the Lord for you!

Praises and Prayer Requests:

1. Praise for time with family over the holidays.

2. Praise for ministry opportunities this summer.

3. Pray for Jeffrey’s ordination January 26-28.

4. Pray for more deputation meetings for 2018.

5. Pray for more financial support.

About Us

Our hearts are burdened for the Ecuadorian people who have never heard the Gospel, people who have been blinded by traditions and customs. We hope to reach these people with the love of Christ. Our desire is to build the church by evangelizing the lost, making disciples and training leaders.
