Here Am I, Send Me - November 2021

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying,

‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’

Then I said, ‘Here I am! Send me.’”

~ Isaiah 6:8 ~

This passage has been a challenge to us as we surveyed several towns this past month. Are we willing to go to places that are dirty, dangerous, and lacking in the conveniences we are used to? Are we willing to be uncomfortable for the sake of the Gospel? We are asking God to help us to be willing to go wherever He would like us to go. As David Livingstone said, “God, send me anywhere, only go with me. Lay any burden on me, only sustain me. And sever any tie in my heart except the tie that binds my heart to Yours.” May this be our desire as well.

Last month, we visited 4 cities that have potential for a new ministry. As a team, we also discussed the possibility of focusing our efforts on the town of Guano, which is close to Riobamba. Please pray with us as we seek God’s guidance for where He wants us to serve Him. We ask that you also pray for more workers for Ecuador. We have a small team consisting of 4 families. We need more workers for this harvest field.

This month found us visiting three of the four regions of Ecuador. Towards the beginning of the month, we visited the town of Macas, which is located on the jungle (eastern) side of Ecuador. This past week, we visited Bucay, Cumandá, and El Triunfo, which are located on the coastal plains. We spent some time driving around, searching for other churches, and looking at housing. It was helpful to see the towns and observe the people.

Once the Woodfin family arrives next year, we plan to return to these towns and spend more time learning, observing, and hopefully meeting with some contacts that we have there. After our time in the coastal cities, we spent Thanksgiving weekend at the beach. It was a blessing to be able to take some time away, without appointments or meetings. It was a refreshing time to talk together, pray, and be refreshed in God’s Word.

At the beginning of the month, we had an appointment regarding our driver’s license paperwork. We were told that we would hear something within 30 days. If our paperwork is approved, we will be able to register for a driving class. We are praying that we can get into a class this month and then purchase a car in January.

The Tuesday night Bible study continues to move forward. Please continue to pray for the salvation of Rolando, Hilda, Geraldo, and Ariel. They have an intellectual understanding of the Gospel, but they have yet to believe in their hearts. The ladies of the church met together for an enjoyable time of fellowship last month. They learned how to make a new Ecuadorian recipe, and then Lisa spoke on Psalm 23. She has been working on Christmas music with the children and ladies. We are looking forward to having a small program on December 19th.

Simon Says:

My favorite part of this month was our trip to the beach. I love to jump in the waves and play in the sand. I also learned that I am going to have a baby brother in March. This week we are going to look for a Christmas tree. Some of my cousins are coming to visit this month, and I am so excited to see them.
